Titan Track Bulletin - March 22, 2015
FREMONT/VIEWMONT TRI-MEET
School Records fell and All-Time marks were established at the tri-meet held at Viewmont Wednesday. And many more PR’s were set that show we are moving in the right direction.
In TEAM scores, the Lady Titans finished with 87 points to outscore the combined totals of Fremont (51) and Viewmont (23). The Boys won with 72 points to defeat Viewmont (54) and Fremont (32).
Kayla Rees continued her great sprinting as she won the 400m dash in a School Record time of 57.41. She also won the 200m dash in 25.61, the #2 all-time mark. Cidnee Davies tied the School Record in winning the high jump at 5'02. She also won the 100m hurdles (15.19) and 300m hurdles (49.64, #6 all-time) as well as the long jump (16'08). Brenn Flint won the shot put with the #2 all-time mark of 37'10. She also won the discus (112'06) and was 2nd in the javelin (77'06). Isabella Williams picked up a couple wins in the 800m (2:22.99) and 1600m runs (5:20.80). Camilla Moses won the pole vault clearing 8'00, the #5 all-time mark. Others making the all-time list included Hailee Swank, pole vault (7'00, #10); Emmy Smith, high jump (5'00, #5); Maranda Kirkman, shot put (30'03, #10); Anne Petersen, 300m hurdles (50.80, #7) and 100m dash (13.53, #10); Taya Tobler, 800m run (2:32.16, #10); and Rachel Griffin, 3200m run (12:42.82, #7).
In Boys action, Dylan Brower won the high jump as he equaled the school record with a 6'04 clearance. Colten Yardley had a big meet winning the 110m hurdles (15.19), 300m hurdles (39.40) and long jump (20'05, #3 all-time). Daunte Atkinson picked up a couple wins in the 100m (11.45) and 200m dashes (22.83). Bryant Edgerton won the 3200m run in 10:37.22. Hunter Woodhall cruised to a win in the 400m dash in 52.33 and Carson Andreasen picked up a win in the 800m run with a seasonal best time of 2:03.11. Mason Leishman was the other Titan winner with his throw of 155'00 in the javelin. While not winning the event, Zach Daines had a huge 18" PR clearance of 12'00 in the pole vault. A victory in the final event, the Boys 3:24.97 winning time in 4x400m relay finished of a good meet for the Titans. That is a time usually run only at invitational or championship meets. Loren Burrell, Yardley, Woodhall and Atkinson ran great splits to win the event by 20-seconds- costing the old coach some $$$ in the process.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
This quote comes from Al Oerter in the article The Will to Win, The Joy of Competition" included in your Track "Bible". He is one of only two athletes to ever win four gold medals in the same event in the Olympic Games.
"I always worked to a point where I would go into a Games absolutely believing that there was nothing else I could have done to prepare myself any better-mentally, physically or emotionally. I never looked back and said, ‘If I’d only done this or hadn’t done that.’ I was always right where I wanted to be at that moment."
Work hard so you can arrive at the "moment" with the same assurance that you have done everything possible to perform to the best of your ability.
TRACK "BIBLE"
If you didn’t pick up your copy, get one. It includes the track schedule, lettering requirements, records, state qualifying marks, etc. It also includes information about nutrition, injuries, and many other items that will help motivate you to pursue excellence.
