RECORDS FALL AT USU

The 2015 Track and Field indoor season got off to a great start as three school records fell and several all-time marks were established at the USU meet.

The Girls’ indoor records took a beating with three new Titan best marks. Kayla Rees won the 60m dash with a record time of 7.89. This is also the #14 mark in Utah history. Jentry Skidmore’s 8.05 was good enough to place 3rd and is also the #3 mark on the Titan all-time list. Jentry and Cidnee Davies both jumped 16'08.50 in the long jump to tie for 2nd and set a new indoor record. Cidnee continued the record assault in winning the 60m hurdles in 9.41, an indoor record and the #19 mark in Utah history. She also cleared 8'00 (#2 all-time) to place 3rd in the pole vault. Liz Wood’s 6'00 clearance places her at #4 on the all-time list. Anne Petersen ran 8.29 (#4 all-time) to place 6th in the 60m dash and jumped 15'03 (#5 all-time) to finish 8th in the long jump. Brenn Flint threw 32'09 (#2 all-time) to win the weight throw and 36'03.50 to finish 2nd in the shot put. Isabella Williams’ 5:16.90 was fast enough to finish 2nd in the 1600m run. This is the fastest time ever for a Lady Titan at the USU meet- not the easiest place to PR in distance races.

While there were no indoor records set by the Boys, there were still some very strong performances. Colten Yardley won the 60m hurdles in 8.69, the #4 mark on the all-time list. Tanner Kutterer’s 9.35 was fast enough for 5th place. That is the fastest time ever for a Titan sophomore. Broderic Hall placed 5th in the 60m dash. His 7.33 time is the #5 all-time mark. Mason Leishman cleared 6'00 to place 2nd in the high jump and tie his #2 all-time mark. Zach Daines’ 10'06 jump in the pole vault moved him into the #5 all-time spot. Ammon Riley threw 42'08 to place 6th in the shot put. That is the #5 all-time mark. Bryant Edgerton ran 2:08.35 to place 4th in the 800m run.

The meet was a very good one for "rookies", as everyone who competed now has a mark to improve on as the season progresses.

NEXT MEET- WEBER STATE
We will have a weekend off this week, then compete at Weber State January 23rd and 24th. The field events will all be contested on Friday, running events on Saturday. This is a great meet- a much better track surface to run on than USU’s.

ALUMNI ACTION
Suzy Robertson ran 9.67 in finish 10th in the 60m hurdles at the BYU Indoor meet. She also placed 3rd in the 500m run with a time of 1:23.96. Ali Morris cleared 10'08 to place 5th in the pole vault at the same meet. Several other former Titans will begin their indoor seasons at meets this weekend.

CONGRATS HUNTER WOODHALL
Hunter just received notification that he has been selected as a member of the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Team. This is a great honor and will give him the opportunity to compete in many national events as well and international competitions. Quite an honor!!!
