QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win."– Tom Fleming’s Boston Marathon training sign on his wall.
GREAT WEEK OF WORKOUTS!!
With no meet on the schedule, we were able to get in some quality workouts. For those who are consistently showing up and working hard, keep it up. As I mentioned Friday, the workouts follow a progression based on sound training principles. The key to getting the most benefit from the workouts is consistency. While you may get better prepared to compete with some hit-and-miss training, you will never be able to reach your potential unless you are consistent.
TUESDAY WORKOUT
All events will work out Tuesday at 3:00. Meet in room 2118.
WEBER STATE MEET
Everyone should plan on competing at this meet. All field events will be contested Friday evening and all running events Saturday. The meet information is attached to this email.
ALUMNI / COACH ACTION
At Northern Arizona, Mayra Franco ran 7.70 in the 60m dash. That is the #3 mark in SUU history. Sharlie Dimick ran 5:41 in the mile at the same meet. She’s run much faster, but not at 7000 feet in elevation. At Idaho State, Ali Morris won the pole vault clearing 11'00. That is the #4 mark in WSU history. Mallory Ashby made her indoor debut running 11:26 in the 3000m run. Suzy Robertson’s 9.52 was good enough for 5th in the 60m hurdles at the same meet. Coach Wilcox ran 1:32.30 to finish 6th in his age group and 62nd overall in the St. George half-marathon. And, our honorary Titan, Jared Ward, finished 2nd in the USA Half-Marathon Championships in Houston finishing in 1:01.42. That netted him a cool $11,000 for his efforts. How fast did he run for the 13.1 miles? That’s a 4:42 mile pace. Try running 144 laps around the indoor track at a 25.7 second pace.
