SENIORS WIN BRAGGING RIGHTS!!
There were many outstanding performances in the Titan Intrasquad meet held Friday in chilly, windy conditions. It was great to have a chance to compete and to set a mark to shoot for in your next meet.
In TEAM scoring, the Seniors tallied 305 points to outdistance the Sophomores and Juniors who trailed with 274. Karson Nielson led the seniors as he captured three first places in the 110m hurdles (15.48), 300m hurdles (41.96, #6 all-time) and high jump (5'08). Nick Merriman also had three wins with victories in the pole vault (10'00), long jump (19'01) and discus (137'05). Mallory Ashby was a multiple winner sweeping the pole vault (8'00) and 200m dash (29.57). Sharlie Dimick also had two win as she took the 800m run (2:38.51) and 300m hurdles (1:00.30). Other seniors picking up victories were Suzy Robertson, 100m hurdles (15.74), Katrina Dunlap, 400m dash (1:04.32), Maddy Neyts, 3200m run (13:56.98), Caden Call, shot put (45'09), Kavika Fonua, 100m dash (11.39), and Michael Phelps, 200m dash (24.01).
The sophomores and juniors had some great efforts in just falling short of the victory. Cidnee Davies started where she left off indoors as she won the high jump with a school record clearance of 5'02", and also captured the long jump (15'08, #5 all-time) and 100m dash (13.69). Brenn Flint also had three victories winning the shot put (36'00), discus (101'01) and javelin (72'04). Bella Williams won the 1600m run in 5:25.57. The sophomore/junior boys got victories from Carson Andreasen in the 1600 (4:54.80) and 3200 (10:39.42), Ryan Andreasen in the 800 (2:12.79), Colten Yardley in the 400m dash (54.35) and Mason Leishman in the javelin (140'11", #10 all-time).
Several other marks made the all-time list. They were Jace Purser, discus (132'07, #5), Yardley in the 100m dash (11.67, #10) and 110m hurdles (16.00, #6), Davies in the 100m hurdles (15.94, #4) and Emily Frei in the javelin (69'00, #10).
Besides the impressive marks for this early in the season, it was great to see so many try new events and spend a little time out of their “comfort zone”. We had distance runners jumping, hurdling and throwing, throwers sprinting and jumping, throwers sprinting, etc. It was fun to see, but even more important, some of you may have found a new event to work on after your regular workout is completed. Keep experimenting with different events early in the season- you never know where your real talents may be. “Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” I know, I used this quote last week. Well, I’m using it again. DON’T GIVE UP ON AN EVENT (or track and field) TOO SOON!!
Pizza for the winning TEAM (seniors) will be served after the Copper Hills meet is over and everything is cleaned up. First in line will be those seniors present at the end of the Intrasquad meet. Anything left over will be shared by other seniors who competed and helped them to victory.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
The first Athletes of the Week go to: RaCail Carter for competing in four events in her first Titan Track Meet (she’s going to help us big time this year- we just don’t know which events yet); and Jace Purser having a 14' PR in the discus. The work indoors on the spin is paying off.
UNIFORMS
We had to delay the uniform checkout that had been scheduled for Saturday. It will now be Monday after practice- probably about 5:00 pm. All paperwork must be completed and turned in as well as all U’s worked off to receive a uniform.
COPPER HILLS DUAL
The Titans will host Copper Hills Wednesday with events beginning at 3:00. This will be a good early season test as the Grizzlies return many of their top performers that helped lead them to a top-ten finish at State. Let’s make a statement right off the bat that the Titans are going to be a force in 5A this year.
