Titan Track Bulletin - March 17, 2013

ROY/COPPER HILLS TRI
Great weather helped make for some very good performances to start the 2013 season. Copper Hills won the girls portion of the meet with 80 points. The Lady Titans finished with 53 and Roy trailed with 25. The boys scored 108 points to easily outdistance Copper Hills (58) and Roy (12).
Suzy Robertson had a great outdoor debut as she won the 100m hurdles (17.70), placed 2nd in the high jump (4'10) and also 2nd in the 200m dash (28.56). Sharlie Dimick (5:29.5), Isabella Williams (5:32.1), and Erin Kibler (5:42.1) swept the top three spots in the 1600m run. Alex Harbeck won the javelin throwing 77'00. Brenn Flint had a good first meet placing 2nd in the discus (86'11) and picking up a 4th place finish in the shot put (28'09). Alyssa Perry, Sam Segura, Mallory Ashby and Suzy won the 4x100m relay in 54.52 and Sharlie, Sam, Mallory and Alyssa won the 4x400m relay in 4:41.3.Jaxon Worthen led the boys as he won the 110m hurdles (15.87), 300m hurdles (42.51) and high jump (6'00). Duante Atkinson had a great debut in a Titan uniform as he won the 100m dash (11.38, #4 all-time) and placing 3rd in the 200m dash (24.34). He also ran legs on the winning 4x100 and 4x400m relays. Braiden Tovey (44'02), Caden Call (42'02), Spencer Woodhall (39'03) and Dallas Beesaw (39'01) swept the shot put. Nicholas Merriman (132'03), Woodhall (107'00), Tovey (103'04) and Jace Purser (100'05) swept the discus. Mason Woodward placed 2nd in the javelin throwing 145'02. Cameron Dower picked up a win in the 400m dash running 56.42 and Landon Greenhalgh (2:02.9) and Cody Kelley (2:06.2) finished 1-2 in the 800m run. Parker Greenhalgh placed 2nd in the 1600m run in 4:54.7. Jace Skidmore was busy placing 2nd in the long jump (19'04) and 4th in the 100m dash (11.88). Brennan O’Neil’s 24.09 was good enough for 2nd in the 200m dash. Kavika Founa picked up a 2nd place in the 100m dash in 11.43. Kavika, Jace, Brennan and Daunte won the 4x100m relay in a very fast 44.15. In the most exciting race of the day, Daunte, Trevor Olsen, Hudson Gooch and Josh Thalman won the 4x400m relay in 3:42.1. They narrowly defeated the Titan "B" team of Dower, Skidmore, Bigelow and Landon Greenhalgh by less than a second. Thalman fought off several challenges by Greenhalgh as they circled the track. It was a good start to the season. It showed that we have the potential to be very good TEAMS. But it also showed that we have a lot of hard work ahead of us if that is the end result.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Chosen as the first Athletes of the Week were Suzy Robertson, Duante Atkinson and Nicholas Merriman.

ALUMNI ACTION
Brandon Yardley
had an incredible race in San Diego Saturday. He placed 4th in the 800m run in 1:52.74, just missing the Junior National qualifying mark by .24. Jaxon Hansen and Brandon also ran on UVU’s 4x400m relay that finished in 3:20.99. Mayra Franco ran a very fast 24.94 in the 200m dash as the same meet. In "sort-of" alumni news, Coach Wilcox ran 38:57 at the Spectrum 10k to finish 2nd in his age group and 22nd out of 790 runners. Way to represent!!
